just another day

i have had the distinct pleasure to experience of working with the public in several arenas. this story is from when i was working security at the front door of a popular establishment. i don’t remember the occasion, but it was unusually busy, so it was probably a day like st. patrick’s day, or new year’s eve, or some such day when a high volume of a-holes come out all at once. i had to hold one such ass and his friends at the door because we were operating at continuous capacity, but the flow was good, and people weren’t having to wait for too long, and i was letting everyone who had to wait know this. but still, the jackass had to show off for his friends, and he asked me what my rent was. he then proceeded to take out his checkbook and told me he’d triple whatever my month’s rent was if I’d let him and his friends in. i told him i wasn’t interested in his money, and that he’d probably only have to wait a few more minutes. sure enough, the room opened enough for me to let him and his friends in. as he was walking past me, i was thinking “do you still want to cut that check you douche bag?!?”
